Passport and Visa
- A valid passport with at least 6 months validity from the date of entry is required.
- An Egyptian visa is required for travel to Cairo (beyond the Sinai free-visa zone). Your guide assists with visa arrangements at the border.
- Some nationalities cannot obtain a visa at the border and must arrange it in advance at an Egyptian embassy. Check your eligibility before booking.
- All visa and border fees must be paid in cash. USD is the most widely accepted currency at the border.
Border Crossing Fees (Not Included)
- Israel exit fee at Taba: approximately NIS 109 per person (updated annually on January 1).
- The Egyptian border exit fee and visa are $140 per person.
- Bring $150-$200 USD in cash per person for all border-related fees.
What to Bring
- Valid passport (original, not a copy).
- Cash in USD for border fees, tips, souvenirs, and drinks.
- Comfortable walking shoes (sand and uneven ground at the Pyramids).
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
- A light jacket or sweater for the air-conditioned coach and cooler desert nights.
- Phone or camera for photos. Note: professional cameras with large zoom lenses may be questioned at the border. Smartphones and compact cameras are fine.
- A small daypack for personal items.
Dress Code
- Casual and comfortable clothing is fine. Egypt does not have strict dress requirements for tourist sites.
- For women visiting mosques (if included as an optional stop), shoulders and knees should be covered.
- Avoid very short shorts or revealing tops out of respect for local customs.
Physical Requirements
- Moderate walking is required at the Pyramids and the Egyptian Museum. Terrain at Giza is sandy and uneven.
- Long coach ride (6-7 hours each way). Make sure you're comfortable with extended travel.
- Not wheelchair accessible due to terrain conditions at the Pyramids.
Important Notes
- Minimum 2 participants required. If not met, you'll be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
- All times are approximate. Border crossing wait times can vary.
- Return drops you at Taba Border Crossing, not your Eilat hotel. Taxis to Eilat cost approximately $10.
- Travel insurance covering Egypt is strongly recommended but not included.
- Tipping is customary in Egypt. Budget approximately $5-$10 for your guide and $2-$5 for your driver.
